No TV?

TV in Iceland wasn’t available every day of the week until 1987.
Part of the reason for this was that leaders were concerned about the
influence of TV on the citizens.

Oh.
Well . . .
when you put it that way . . .
it make us think, doesn’t it?

I love watching TV.
I find it relaxing to watch a Hallmark movie
(partly because I don’t have to think when I’m viewing it)—
they have the same setup, the same rising action, the same basic plot and the same conclusions.

Yet I still enjoy them.

And I love watching national news so I can be informed about what’s
happening in our world.

I also love the old Andy Griffith reruns, a good mystery, and a few law shows.

But I have to admit—
if I didn’t watch TV, I could be doing more productive things.

The key is to not allow it to affect my time with God and my time in His
Word. So before I ever turn on the TV, I read my Bible and pray. As my day
plays out, I continue in prayer and ask for His guidance in all I do.

Unless God specifically asks you to turn off the TV, go ahead and use it for
positive entertainment, relaxation, and a time to zone-out during a Hallmark
movie. But determine not to allow the programming to influence you in a
negative way.

“Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” (Proverbs 4:34 ESV)

You are loved!
