What’s Her Real Name?

The above painting by Leonardo da Vinci from the sixteenth century, known as the Mona Lisa, is kept in a bullet-proof glass case at 43 degrees Fahrenheit.

But . . . who is she?
She was the wife of Francesco del Giocondo—
a Florentine merchant.

Mona—short for Madonna— means “my lady” or “Mrs.” in Italian.

The painting wasn’t always called “Mona Lisa.” She didn’t receive this formal title until 1550. She was previously known as “A Courtesan in a Gauze Veil.”

Mona sounds a lot better, doesn’t it?

Matthew 16:18 shows Jesus changing Simon’s name to Peter.

Guess who else is getting a new name?

YOU.

“ . . . you will be called by a new name
that the mouth of the Lord will bestow.” (Isaiah 62:2 NIV)

Need more proof you’re getting a new name? Check this out:

“I will also give that person a white stone with a new
name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.”
(Revelation 2:17 NIV)

Someday, Jesus will give you a pet name known only between the
two of you. It will be a name filled with
love,
warmth,
beauty,
and strength.

When I think of eternity, I realize we have a LOT to look forward to!

You are so loved!
