How’s your Hearing?

A lion’s roar can be heard from more than five miles away.
It’s reassuring to know that hearing one doesn’t mean it’s close.

A lion’s roar reaches 114 decibels. That’s about 25 times louder than
a gas-powered lawn mower!

How can his roar be so loud?
It’s because of his larynx.
Most animals’ vocal cords are triangular,
but a lion’s are square and flat.

So what does this mean?
It allows the lion to respond more easily to air passing through.
The result: A louder roar with less effort.

There are times God’s voice is a loud roar. But most of the time
He speaks to me, it comes through in a gentle whisper.

What’s important, though, isn’t really how He speaks—
but that we learn the sound of His voice.

“I will listen to what God the Lord says. . . .” (Psalm 85:8)

The more you listen, the easier it becomes to discern His voice.
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27)

Sometimes, you can hear His voice through Scripture.
Other times, it comes through a nudging of the Holy Spirit.

And there are times, when we need Him to ROAR.

“Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things
that you have not known.” (Jeremiah 33:3)

When we ask Him to teach us the sound of His voice, He will.

You are loved!
