Do You Recognize Me?

Chickens aren’t often considered to be especially bright animals, though there’s evidence they’re smarter than we once believed.

Researchers studying chickens since the 1920s have determined that chickens possess a wide range of communication skills.

Chickens can recognize one another . . . and humans!

They’re able to produce 24 different vocalizations that alert their fellow fowl about predators, food, and an interest in mating.

Chickens are also capable of differentiating between numbers and can identify patterns and shapes.

Those memory skills help chickens recognize up to 30 other birds, a process that starts within 36 hours after hatching, when chicks imprint on
their mother hen.

Chickens can also recognize human faces and even have preferences for who they find attractive!

You might wonder if a chicken recognizes you.

Does it make you uncomfortable when someone you’ve only met once—or someone you haven’t seen in a few years approaches you and says,  “Do you know who I am?”

That really bugs me. It can quickly escalate to awkward.
I’d much rather have someone approach me and remind me who they are as we begin a conversation.

If you have a genuine, growing relationship with Christ, you won’t have to approach Him on Judgment Day and say, “Jesus, do You know who I am?”

Before you even say a word—
His arms will stretch out to embrace you
as He says, “Enter in. I’ve been waiting for you.
You’re just in time for the party!
Well done, My good and faithful servant.”

Jesus will
Always. Recognize. You.

Here’s the proof:

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
(Jeremiah 1:5)

And also:
“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (Psalm 139:16)

Spend some time today thanking Him for not only recognizing you, but He truly knows you!

You are loved!
