I Don’t Understand!

Imagine eating at an Italian restaurant and your waiter asks if you’d like a spaghetto. You might respond, “I don’t understand.
What is that?”

If you say, “Yes! That’s what I want,” chances are, you’ll leave hungry. That’s because a spaghetto is just a lone pasta strand. It’s the singular form of the plural spaghetti.

There are other Italian dishes that share this similarity. One cannoli is actually a cannolo. A single cheese-filled ravioli is actually a raviolo. Same with a panino sandwich.

There are a lot of things we don’t understand . . .
and that’s OK.

The apostle Paul assures us that one day we’ll understand everything.

“Now I know in part; then I shall know fully. . . .”
(1 Corinthians 13:12 NIV)

Instead of stressing about what we don’t know now, maybe we should focus on what we DO know:

“He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
(Colossians 1:17 NIV)

Because He knows everything, we can find rest in His peace that
He’ll teach us what we need to know—
in His perfect timing.

You are loved!
