Lonely?
It’s illegal to own just one guinea pig in Switzerland. They’re extremely social creatures who grow lonely without a friend. So if you’re going to own a guinea pig, the Swiss law states you have to own two.
So what happens if one of your two guinea pigs dies and you’re left with a lonely little guy by himself and don’t have time to immediately shop for a new one?
Rent-a-guinea-pig services are available as a temporary solution.
Yes, this sounds extreme, but it’s kind of cool that Switzerland cares so much about guineas not being lonesome!
Even more important than these little guys, though, is the fact that we humans often experience loneliness.
And it can be heart-wrenching.
I’ve certainly felt it.
But my comfort lies in the fact that I have a Savior who knows and cares
about how I feel.
“Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.”
(Psalm 25:16 NIV)
He knows all about it!
“I am holding you by your right hand—I, the Lord your God—
and I say to you, Don’t be afraid; I am here to help you.” (Isaiah 41:13 LB)
God holds our hands!
God also addresses our loneliness by giving us the church— a caring, loving body of believers to pray for us and surround us.
May I challenge you this week to reach out to someone you think may be lonely?
I love you!
