Can you imagine the apostle Paul encouraging people of all
beliefs—whatever god they worship . . . and to whichever idol they make
sacrifices—to unite as one body and pray to their own god for healing of
their country?

Absurd.

Yet on May 14, Pope Francis and the Catholic church called for “people of
all religions and people of no religion to pray to his/her own god or personal
ideal for the pandemic to cease.”

The apostle Paul told the people of Athens (who worshipped several
different gods and idols) that there’s only ONE true God who hears our
prayers and is worthy of worship! (See Acts 17:22-31).

And I hear Christ saying in John 14:6 “I am the Way—yes, and the
Truth and the Life. No one can get to the Father except by means of me.”
The Bible is extremely clear on ONE true God—and only one WAY to the
one true God!

While we long for world peace, it will never come until all people recognize
that Christ is the one true God. It’s one thing to love everyone as Christ
commanded us to do. But it’s an entirely different thing to accept false
religions as ok.

Wait a minute, Susie! Aren’t you being narrow-minded?
Yes, I am.
You see, I’m walking a narrow road.

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the
road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is
the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
(Matthew 7:13-14 NIV)

It’s one thing to live as neighbors with people of different religions and to
live out Christ’s love in front of them. But it’s a very dangerous thing
indeed to accept varying religions. By doing so, we blur truth and blindly
accept Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and those with various other belief
systems as our brothers and sisters.

We are not praying to the same God!

Unity in Christ is to be sought and practiced.
Unity with the world, however, actually goes against Scripture:
Romans 12:2; John 18:36; 1 John 2:15; John 8:23; James 4:4.

We’re hearing so much about the need to be unified.
Be discerning, brothers and sisters.
Love everyone. But unite only with those who share your faith in Christ!
