Ask Yourself This!

First off, let me say this devotion isn’t my own.
I read it from author Gail Burton Purath and enjoyed it so much,
I wanted to share part of it with you.

Here we go:

God’s Word is designed for dummies.
I use “dummies” in the dearest sense here,
meaning we’re incapable of fully understanding
our all-knowing, all-wise God.

We’re finite, limited beings, still “putting off” our sinful nature
(see Ephesians 4:22-24 ).

God is infinite, unlimited, and perfect (see Romans 11:33 ).

We’ll never fully understand God.
He’s too big. We’re too small.
We’ll always have some questions.

That’s where faith comes in (see Hebrews 11:1 ):

1. Do I trust God’s character ( Psalm 145:17 )?
2. Do I trust Him with my unanswered questions ( Job 38 )?
3. Do I trust that He’s given me all the understanding I need
( 2 Peter 1:3 )?

I do.

Do you?

Thoughts?

I’d appreciate your prayers this weekend as I speak in
Annandale, VA.

Praying for you, Susie! Trusting God for all the yet-to-be answered prayers! This writing of George Mueller’s was excerpted in a prayer devotional I’m re-reading. It encourages me immensely. “I am now, in 1864, waiting upon God for certain blessings, for which I have daily besought Him for 19 years and 6 months. without one day’s intermission. Still the full answer is not yet given concerning the conversion of certain individuals. In the meantime, I have received many thousands of answers to prayer. I have also prayed daily, without intermission, for the conversion of certain individuals for 10 years, for others 6 or 7 years, for others 4, 3, and 2 years, for others about 18 months; and still the answer is not yet granted, …Yet I am daily continuing in prayer and expecting the answers. Be encouraged dear Christian reader, with fresh earnestness to give yourself to prayer, if you can only be sure that you ask for things which are for the glory of God.” George Mueller got all that he prayed for. Yes, that request he waited so long for was eventually answered.
