Number 2, is used a LOT in Scripture. Let’s just look at a few:
“Two can accomplish more than twice as much as one, for the results can be much better.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9 LB) We weren’t meant to live as islands. We NEED each other. Reach out to someone today who may need to be reminded that you’re willing to walk by his or her side.
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.” (Matthew 6:24 NIV)
Jesus desires LORDSHIP. When we split our sold-out devotion between Him and something else, He’s no longer LORD. Ask Him to reveal anything in your life that may be gaining more importance than it should. Then seek His forgiveness and commit that to Him.
“And he called his twelve disciples together and sent them out two by two.” (Mark 6:7 LB)
Jesus knew the hardships His disciples would face when they involved themselves in ministry. And He knows the trials we’ll face when we stand firm in Him and refuse to compromise. This is why accountability is so important. If you haven’t established accountability into your life, pray that God will lead you to someone who can help in this area.
“Then Elijah talked to them. ‘How long are you going to waver between two opinions?’ he asked the people. ‘If the Lord is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!’ ” (1 Kings 18:21 LB)
I love this Scripture. It leaves absolutely no doubt in our minds that God is calling us to boldly get off the fence! He’s calling us to serve Him unequivocally.
There are a lot more places in Scripture where the number two is mentioned. Do a search and see what you come up with.
I wish “bicycles-built-for-two” were available in Bible times. Think how much easier the disciples would have had it if they could have pedaled their way from city to city on tandem bikes instead of walking everywhere they went.
Love,
Susie
