By the Numbers
SIX

Seis (Spanish)
Sechs (German)
Six (French)
Sita (Swahili)
Sitta (Arabic)

Check out a few of the ways the number 6 is used in Scripture.

• God instructs us in the fourth commandment out of 10 to work for 6 days and rest on the seventh
(Exodus 20:8; Exodus 31:12-17)

• Jesus turns 6 pots of water into wine at a friend’s wedding (John 2:6).

• Moses and Joshua went up to Mount Sinai where the glory of the Lord rested on them for 6 days before
God called Moses to enter the cloud’s midst for 40 days and nights (Exodus 24:16-18).

6 days after Jesus told the disciples of His second coming, He took Peter, James, and John up a high
mountain to witness His transfiguration (Matthew 17:1; Mark 9:2). Matthew doesn’t often mention
numbers, so the number 6 here seems to be significant.

On another note, you can grab the $6 Classic Meal Deal at McDonalds and get your choice of a Quarter Pounder with cheese, a Big Mac, 10-piece Chicken McNuggets or Filet-O-Fish. I bet the disciples would’ve loved it!
