God: The Deliverer

When God freed the Israelites from captivity in Egypt, He led them through the wilderness for a little more than 40 years. There were certainly shorter routes that could have been taken.

But God chose to take them the long way.

Why?
I like to think of two reasons:

#1: There were Egyptian military posts along the shorter route, and the soldiers stationed there would have challenged the Israelites. Furthermore, crossing the Philistine borders would have invited their army to attack, and the last thing Israel needed was a war with the neighbors.

#2: It didn’t take long to get the Israelites out of Egypt, but it took much longer for God to get Egypt out of the Israelites. They had been immersed in Egyptian culture, Egyptian idols, and Egyptian oppression.

God knew what He was doing when He chose the longer way.

Perhaps you’ve been praying for something for a long time, and you’re wondering why God is taking you through the wilderness.

God knows what He’s doing.
The question is: Will you trust Him?

The wilderness you may be experiencing right now could actually be a blessing in disguise. Don’t be too quick to dismiss something you don’t understand.

God’s ways are best.
All. The. Time.

Love,
Susie
