With the devastation of the fires in Oregon and California, I find myself
thinking about three others who experienced a tremendous fire. You may
recall Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from Daniel 3 in the Old
Testament.
I think about the fact that all the fire did was release them from what had
them bound. Wow.
Allow me to repeat: All the fire did was release them from what had
them bound.
Sometimes God allows us to go through the fire . . . but He uses it to free
us from what has us bound!
Hey, that bears repeating, too: Sometimes God allows us to go through
the fire . . . but He uses it to free us from what has us bound!
You may feel as though you’re in a fiery furnace right now.
Take courage from this:
“When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with
you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown!
When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned
up—the flames will not consume you.” (Isaiah 43:2 LB)
Ask the Lord to use the fire to free you from anything that’s preventing your
intimacy with Him.
And when you’re overwhelmed with the heat?
Never forget. . . He’s in the furnace WITH you!
