Rats!

Many of us are familiar with bomb-sniffing dogs, but what about land mine-sniffing rats?

In Central Africa giant-pouched rats have been trained to help clear fields of unexploded land mines.

These rats weigh less than 3 lbs.—light enough to avoid setting off the mines—and can clear areas of land the size of a tennis court in just 30 minutes. It would take four days for a human with a metal detector to accomplish the same job.

These rodent heroes have helped clear more than 13,200 mines from fields scattered across Tanzania, Mozambique, and Angola since 1997.

Still . . . whenever I think of a rat, I think, Ewwww.

God is known for making good out of bad.
If a smelly rat can be used for good . . .
we can celebrate how God uses us—
no matter our past,
how smelly we get,
or how inconsistent we’ve been—
for something beautiful, good, and wonderfully creative.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10 NIV)

You are loved!
