YHWH
(Reminder: I’m doing an A to Z devotional blog.)

At first glance, you may think YHWH are call letters on an AM radio station . . . but it’s actually a Hebrew name for God (minus the vowels). Including the vowels gives us Yahweh, and this name appears more than 6,800 times in the Hebrew Bible.

Here are a few other names for God you may recognize:

Adonai
El Roi (not to be confused with Leroy)
Jehovah
Ancient of Days
El Shaddai
Alpha and Omega
Elohim

Yeshua is a Hebrew name for Jesus, and it’s found 218 times in the Hebrew Bible. Lots of Christians get tattoos of these sacred names written in the Hebrew language. I’ll never get a tattoo. I’m a baby who’s afraid of pain. If I were forced to get a tattoo, the most I’d be able to handle is a comma.

While the Hebrew script looks cool, I think the best tattoo we can get is on our hearts. Instead of simply wearing Him, why not just live Him?

Whether you prefer to address God as Yahweh or Jehovah . . . always remember that He loves being your Abba Father.

And whether you refer to Jesus as Yeshua or Christ . . . always remember that He loves being your Redeemer.
