Move Already!
Marvin K. Mooney, Will You Please Go Now? by Dr. Seuss is a hilarious poem about a nice guy—Marvin—who just won’t move. He’s content to sit still.
To stay in one place. He’s idle.
Here’s a quick snippet:
The time has come.
The time is now.
Just go. Go. GO! I don’t care how.
You can go by foot.
You can go by cow.
Marvin K. Mooney, will you please go now!
You can go on skates.
You can go on skis.
You can go in a hat.
But please go. Please!
I don’t care. You can go by bike.
You can go on a Zike-Bike if you like.
Marvin K. Mooney, I don’t care how.
Marvin K. Mooney, will you please GO NOW!
You can go on stilts. You can go by fish.
You can go in a Crunk-Car if you wish.
If you wish, you may go by lion’s tail.
Or stamp yourself and go by mail.
Marvin K. Mooney!
Don’t you know the time has come
to go, GO! GO!!!
Get on your way! Please, Marvin K.!
You can go by Bumble-Boat . . . or jet.
I don’t care how you go. Just GET!
Get yourself a Ga-Zoom. You can go with a BOOM!
Marvin, Marvin, Marvin! Will you leave this room!
Marvin K. Mooney! I don’t care HOW.
Marvin K. Mooney! Will you please GO NOW!
I said GO!
And GO I meant.
The time had come.
SO . . .
Marvin K. Mooney sat still for a long time. He was filled with passivity.
God doesn’t call us to be Marvin K. Mooney’s. He calls us to be one-fire,
obedient disciples. He calls us to MOVE. And when God calls us to move,
it’s always forward.
Let’s look at what God says about going:
And then he told them, ‘You are to go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere.’ ” (Mark 16:15 LB)
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” (Psalm 32:8 NIV)
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9 NIV)
“Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.” (Psalm 143:8 NIV)
When God calls us to GO, He also calls us to GROW. So He’s calling us to GO by GROWING spiritually. Let’s see what He says about spiritual
growth:
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity.”
(2 Peter 3:18 NIV)
“The apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith!’ ” (Luke 17:5 NIV)
“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.”(Ephesians 4:15 NIV)
It’s time for the weak to become strong and for the spiritually strong to become stronger.
It’s time for the weary to be renewed, and for spiritual warriors to be reinvigorated.
Does not the Spirit of God living inside us call us to action?
Doesn’t His Word remind us that, if He is FOR us, no one can be against us? Yes: Romans 8:31.
And didn’t Jesus assure that He will be with us always, even to the end of the age? Yes: Matthew 28:20.
And didn’t He guarantee us times of tribulation and testing – they’re as much a part of this world as sunrise and sunset – but through it all, we have victory in Him! Yes: He did!
Let’s say goodbye to passivity and inaction. And let’s quit making excuses.
One of my favorite Scriptures is wrapped up in God’s encouragement to us:
“So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weakknees.
Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong” (Hebrews 12:12-13 NIV).
It’s time for holy action. Time to move forward and leave the passivity of Marvin K. Mooney behind.
May we stand tall for holiness.
May we LIVE holy lives sanctified by the Holy Spirit within us.
Will you move forward?
Could this be your prayer:
“Dear God! I will NOT sit still. I want more of You. I want a stronger faith. A deeper relationship. I want to live in boldness and stand against what’s wrong by standing tall for what’s right.
Wake me up, spiritually! Today’s the day I stop making excuses. Today, I’m moving forward spiritually. Invite people. Share my faith. Live in holiness.”
Love,
Susie

Please help me pray about getting back on Facebook. Someone hacked my account and posted something extremely vulgar on my page. Facebook immediately deleted it and kicked me off. I’ve been off FB for more than a month. I have contacted them, but they say they’re short-staffed and will look into at some point.
I believe in praying specifically. Will you join me in praying I’ll be reinstated by Thanksgiving?
