Salt
(Reminder: I’m doing an A to Z devotional blog.)

The human body contains about 4 oz. of salt. Every cell in our body contains salt! Without enough salt, muscles won’t contract, blood won’t circulate, food won’t digest, and the heart won’t beat a beat.

Without a doubt, salt is the essence of life. And Jesus said, “You are the salt of the earth.” (Matthew 5:13)

Salt is so valuable that Roman soldiers were sometimes paid in salt—which is where the word salary comes from. This is where we get the expression “he’s not worth his salt.”

Another word in Scripture beginning with S is Susie.
Just kidding.
But I am in the Lamb’s Book of Life!
YAHOO.

We have never found Shingles in the Bible, but I’m wondering if Job may have had a bad case of them mixed in with all the boils on his body. We don’t know for sure, but we DO know he was miserable.

Let’s get back to salt.

People often wonder what their purpose is, why they’re here, what God’s will is for their lives. Jesus makes it extremely clear in Matthew 5:13:

“Let me tell you why you are here.
You’re here to be salt-seasoning
that brings out the God-flavors of this earth.”
(The Message)

Wow!
The reason we’re here is to bring out the very flavor of God Himself to those around us.

Time to get salty.

Love,
Susie
